Asian Beat Grand Finals
Singapore
9 Bands
8 Countries
1 Passion
VJs Denise and Jeff hosted the competition...Denise just wore too much make up and her hairstyle just reminded me of Roxanne's just guled down on her head haha. The competition was started off with guest performances by DJ KoFlow and Victor Smolski. Japan's Hoidoos performed during the interval and although I couldn't understand a word, I really enojoyed their compositions and perforamance. John Molina and Kruger entertained us while the judges were tabulating the scores with songs from Green Day, U2, Franz Ferdinand and Coldplay...but their performance just made my realise that original is always better...
First up, Diana Rising from the Philippines. Love their drummer, Katrina, haha... she's cute AND she won the best drummer award! haha...

Next was Six Fight from Thailand. My personal favourites...really expected them to win... won the best entertainer award. They won me over with thier stomp meets rock performance played with instruments ranging from the traditional rock instruments to drums made out of garbage cans. Not to forget the saxophonist... he was really good...

Then came Malaysia's own Symphonia...pretty good but heavy metal just wasn't my cup of tea...

Hong Kong's Nuclear...Their performance was pretty good too...lovely music.. haha for some reason Manel liked their guitarist and expected them to win...sadly for her, they didn't...

Rolling Dice from Taiwan...the winners of this year's Asian Beat winning the hearts of the judges with their song, "The Letter". Congrats to them...

Introducing Crazy 7 Days! 3 Chinese bands in a row - Hong Kong, Taiwan and now, China... I liked their introduction... Their vocalist, Xu Miao, really entertained the crowd by talking in a really squeaky voice...haha sounded really cute...

And now here's to local band, X-Tech who had a seemingly large fan club turnning up to support them with white face paint which was what they wore for their performance too...yet another heavy metal rock band...didn't enjoy them much...

Yet another local band, Youthwreck...hmmm now I wonder if there's any connection between two Singaporean bands competing and Singapore being the venue for the finals...I thought that they were much better than X-Tech...

Last up was Indon band, Alas Roban... They turned up with multi-coloured spray painted hair... haha Poh mentioned that they reminded him of parrots... I thought tt their performance was second to Six Fight's...

Finally, I just wanna say good job to those bands who had competed in the Asian Beat Finals especially to the two local bands...it's time for the local music scene to shine! whoo! ROCK ON!
