Asian Beat Grand Finals
Singapore
9 Bands
8 Countries
1 Passion
VJs Denise and Jeff hosted the competition...Denise just wore too much make up and her hairstyle just reminded me of Roxanne's just guled down on her head haha. The competition was started off with guest performances by DJ KoFlow and Victor Smolski. Japan's Hoidoos performed during the interval and although I couldn't understand a word, I really enojoyed their compositions and perforamance. John Molina and Kruger entertained us while the judges were tabulating the scores with songs from Green Day, U2, Franz Ferdinand and Coldplay...but their performance just made my realise that original is always better...
First up, Diana Rising from the Philippines. Love their drummer, Katrina, haha... she's cute AND she won the best drummer award! haha...

Next was Six Fight from Thailand. My personal favourites...really expected them to win... won the best entertainer award. They won me over with thier stomp meets rock performance played with instruments ranging from the traditional rock instruments to drums made out of garbage cans. Not to forget the saxophonist... he was really good...

Then came Malaysia's own Symphonia...pretty good but heavy metal just wasn't my cup of tea...

Hong Kong's Nuclear...Their performance was pretty good too...lovely music.. haha for some reason Manel liked their guitarist and expected them to win...sadly for her, they didn't...

Rolling Dice from Taiwan...the winners of this year's Asian Beat winning the hearts of the judges with their song, "The Letter". Congrats to them...

Introducing Crazy 7 Days! 3 Chinese bands in a row - Hong Kong, Taiwan and now, China... I liked their introduction... Their vocalist, Xu Miao, really entertained the crowd by talking in a really squeaky voice...haha sounded really cute...

And now here's to local band, X-Tech who had a seemingly large fan club turnning up to support them with white face paint which was what they wore for their performance too...yet another heavy metal rock band...didn't enjoy them much...

Yet another local band, Youthwreck...hmmm now I wonder if there's any connection between two Singaporean bands competing and Singapore being the venue for the finals...I thought that they were much better than X-Tech...

Last up was Indon band, Alas Roban... They turned up with multi-coloured spray painted hair... haha Poh mentioned that they reminded him of parrots... I thought tt their performance was second to Six Fight's...

Pictures were taken from http://asianbeat.yamaha.co.jp/index.html

Finally, I just wanna say good job to those bands who had competed in the Asian Beat Finals especially to the two local bands...it's time for the local music scene to shine! whoo! ROCK ON!

Spot The Spelling and Translation Errors

took this pic whilst in Guangzhou, China in a major departmental store.

Sick...

Whoopie! woke up this morning with a bloody fever and a cough. Must have because I wished that Fatimah would get better soon and i wished her fever onto myself... haha passed on the fever to me... and for the cough, Jian! I blame thee! Decided to sleep a little longer before leaving for school arriving two periods late... luckily there was no teacher at the gate and so I, together with one J2 and another J1, managed to slip into school un-noticed.

We got our debate motion today. This House believes that all JCs should be single-sex colleges. A showdown between 06A05 and 06S26. Sum and I had something like a prep debate when he heard bout this... just wanted to know what were some points the proposition were going to throw at us on monday. Go Sulaiman, Talisa and Bryan! 06A05 is gonna be behind you all the way with our yellow hands with uber fat fingers! haha... Today in PW, they gave us a list of top 10 most popular careers which ppl of our personality type are suited for. Guess wht, I'm going to be a counstruction labourer! whee! or I could always be a photographer, journalist, mortgage broker, marketing executive, artist, phychiatrist, entertainer, inventor or a research worker.

:( My art piece didn't quite turn out as what I had visualised it to be. Ah well, luckily it was going to be graded.. :)

Came home and slept the whole day...needed my rest if I were to be well tml... going to the Asian Beat Band Competition at Ngee Ann Civics Plaza... gonna take lots of pictures tml (if dad's able to get hold of any tickets tml) so watch this spot for the update... woke up with my fever pretty much gone but the cough lingered... Darn it!

My sincere gratefulness.
Bryan you're my savior,
And Ke**e*h's desire.
haha
Hope you enjoy this poem Bryan....I know I do...haha

06A05 Rocks BIG TIME

Credits for this goes to Poh Leng of 06A05 for first 3 months in TPJC who has left us for poly life. Know that you will be missed.

The Armed Republic of Nosendil

My nation has been updated :)

The Armed Republic of Nosendil
"Free the goats or we'll eat all your ice cream!"

UN Category: Liberal Democratic Socialists
Civil Rights:Average
Economy:Developing
Political Freedoms:World Benchmark

The Armed Republic of Nosendil is a small, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its burgeoning goat population. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 7 million love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.
The large, corrupt government devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Defence and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 31%, but much higher for the wealthy. A tiny private sector is dominated by the Door-to-door Insurance Sales industry.
Voting is voluntary, the tenet of free speech is held dear, and euthanasia is legal. Crime is moderate. Nosendil's national animal is the goat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Nosil.

Today

Well, first and foremost...I'd like to thank you, Carrie, for your very ermmm constructive comments :) Yes...everything associated to me is weird.

And to carry on to more pressing matters....

today's events include:

  • morally supporting Khairi at Singapore Idol auditions and although he didn't make it due to his extreme nervousness, he came out smiling and rather happy as though he got in so when I first saw him I acctually he DID in fact make it through. Which of course he didn't. Problem with this yr's auditions is that u've gotta get past an audition with the producers before an actual audition with the judges. Great ain't it? This would help prevent the very entertaining ppl ppl like me would tune in just to watch from going on to embarass in front of the judges..ah well...Bryan did eventually manage to embarass himself, hopefully :P, on national TV.

Guy wearing the SI tee with camera approaches Bryan

Guy: Do you know what's happening here today?

Bryan: Yup, Singapore Idol

Guy: So are you going there now?

Bryan: No

Guy: WHY?!?!?!?!

Bryan: I'm going home because my mama told me so.

Once again, BRILLANT JOB Bryan ;)

  • Going to the airport to meet up with Soh and Jian for lunch. They were there to pick up one of their friends. We ate at Swensens at T1 as Soh wanted to sit on the sofa seats...well for that moment we all suddenly turned into her slaves and turned into obeyed misstress Soh moving our arses form T2 to T1. T'was only during our very nice and peaceful meal that we discovered Soh's very, very, very, very, very corrupted mind. So how many hands and fingers eh? haha. Went home after lunch. Called Nigel and asked if he wanted to go out but he had just awoken from his peaceful slumber and wanted to spend the rest of his day at home and msging Yan Hong haha...
  • Introduced to a new online game: NationStates.. A game based on Max Barry's Jennifer Government... Interesting concept this game's based on... You get to create your own country, name it and have your own flag, create your county's motto, set your own policies and control your own population! The very game for today's tyrant wannabes who would invoke the warth of the UN and US should they do the things they do in this game in real life.

Introducing..... The Free Land of Nosendil

"We pick cotton and love goats"

The Free Land of Nosendil is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its burgeoning goat population. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 5 million enjoy great social freedoms and frequent elections, where the majority of the populace regularly votes to increase its benefits at the expense of various hapless minorities.

Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Nosendil's national animal is the goat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the nosil.

P.S. I used the national flag of Vanuatu - an African nation

Art

Art IS fun. I strongly adivce ppl to take up H2 Art. Why? Coz I love it that's why :)

Assignment 1 : Where did you come from, where are you going?
This assignment is cool...do a monochrome, black and white, drawing answering the above qns. I've come up so far with two concepts:

1 - My journey thorugh life
2 - Where am I going? Back to where I started from

Won't elaborate on them yet so as not to spoil the final product

Assignment 2 : Design smth to prevent an egg from cracking when dropped from 3 stories up (sound familiar?)

My favourite assignment out of the two...coz it incorporates the aspect of design which many schools which offer art as a sub do not, they only focus on art as art and not design as part of art too ( hope i'm right bout this ) and this is the reason why I decided to stay in TPJC and continue with art...yay! Speaking of art, I'd love to take tis opportunity to thank my angel, Bryan, ( who's supposed to remain unknown to me ) for the gift haha...THANKS!

Conquered

Conquered...yes that's what I have been thanks to Jian introducing me to conquer online..A MMORPG which is set in historical China. I've been at this game for hours to end and even at this time, I'm still at it. Let's go over the duration again : Whole day. Yes, I'm addicted to it. Great.....

Choices

that's it...I'm done with my app...my decision had been made as follows:
1st - TPJC (arts)
2nd - SAJC (arts)
3rd - NYJC (arts)

but of course...it's confirmed that I'll get back into TPJC...haha the other two was just to fill space.

Well, finally...

Well..I figured it was time I got a blog...so yep, here it is....today's valentine's day...so happy valentine's day ppl! and not to forget, friendship week....here's to all friends out there, cheers! haha..really shocked by your gift coz i didn't really expect it...thank you so much. I really appreciate it...thanks Fa Fa..

Yup! Thanks for the blue rose and the little hand made thingy..haha I so love them....Ack..18 more hours till our application's due and I've yet to make my choice...darn..TPJC as first choice? should I?
